Guided tour of the Acqua Campus demonstration area – The WATERMELLON project and new cropping systems

On May 8th, during Macfrut2025, we had the pleasure of presenting the European WATERMELLON project with a guided tour of the Acqua Campus demonstration area, hosted at the pilot field of the Irrigation Consortium for the Emilia Romagna Canal (CER) and Italian Association of Reclamation and Irrigation Consortia (ANBI).

The event was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge and experiences on innovative farming systems designed to tackle water scarcity in the Mediterranean. Nicola Dalmonte, Chairperson of CER and farmer introduced the meeting, while Professor Andrea Monti (UNIBO) illustrated the objectives and vision of the project, the session was organized and moderated by CER and ANBI.

The visit brought together researchers, farmers, universities and producer associations, all united by a common goal: building more resilient, sustainable and water-efficient agriculture.
